Our Editors

Wardrobe Loft is written by three editors who came to this work the same way: from the practical side of the thing. One from fabric programs, one from a jewelry repair bench, one from ten years of standing all day. We don’t chase new arrivals, and we don’t put a piece on a list to fill the list — an item earns its slot by holding up against a spec, or it doesn’t appear.

Claire Whitmore

Fashion Editor

Claire spent ten years writing fabric programs for apparel brands before she started writing about the clothes themselves, which is why she reads the fiber-content tag before the price tag. Her beat is the stuff closest to the skin — denim, knits, coats, dresses — and her rule is simple: the label tells you how a piece will behave on day one, and it usually tells you how it will behave by month three.

She writes The Care File, our running archive of how good things fail, and handles most of the apparel and fabric guides on the site.

Elena Brooks

Accessories & Jewelry Editor

Elena came out of a backstage jewelry studio, where repairs taught her more than any showroom ever could. She talks about clasps, plating thickness, and stitching density more than she talks about styles — because a bag or a bracelet is a small machine, and the machine is what fails first.

She covers bags, scarves, belts, and everyday jewelry, and writes The Label Reader, our term-by-term decoder for the words brands put on tags — vermeil, full-grain, gold-filled — with a fixed exit: what to check the next time you see that word.

Priya Nair

Footwear Editor

Priya spent a decade on her feet in hospital corridors before she started writing about shoes, and she has never recovered from the experience — in the best way. Arch support, last shape, and sole construction come before colorways in every guide she writes, because a shoe you cannot stand in for eight hours is not a shoe, whatever it costs.

She covers sneakers, boots, heels, and work flats, with a running interest in how pairs behave after a real season of wear — not a fitting-room hour.
